Representation theory is a central branch of modern mathematics that studies realizations of abstract non-linear structures using classical linear and/or combinatorial concrete structures like matrices, linear operators and quivers. It is a very active and dynamic area with important applications to algebra, combinatorics, geometry, topology, analysis, category theory, number theory, mathematical physics and other branches of mathematics and physics.
There are currently several researchers, postdocs and also Ph.D. students working in this area in Iran, partly due to and initiated by the successful CIMPA-UNESCO-IPM School and Conference in 2008 at IPM (http://math.ipm.ac.ir/conferences/2008/CIMPA2008/). In addition, there are several algebraists in Iran working in commutative algebra and/or non-commutative ring theory, areas which are deeply connected to central representation theoretic topics.
The second IPM-Isfahan Seminar on Representations of Algebras (ISRA-II) will take place at November 30-December 2, 2017. It hopes to bring together researchers interested to this area to develop interaction, collaboration and the exchange of ideas.
The plenary lecturer this year will be Bernhard Keller from Université Paris Diderot - Paris 7 who will deliver two 55 minuets lectures at the seminar.
